Dr. Chris Holcombe

Hi, I’m Chris Holcombe, a Consultant Breast Surgeon, Cancer Lead for the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Medical Director for the Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network. My role focuses on improving the outcome and experience of people whose lives are affected by cancer throughout the region; this covers everything from stopping people getting cancer in the first place to diagnosis to aftercare.

Dr. Dan Seddon

Hi, I’m Dr Dan Seddon, a public health doctor working in Merseyside and Cheshire. I work to prevent cancer, and to get it diagnosed earlier. This is because when we diagnose cancer early, it is easier to treat and often the person with the cancer has a better outcome.

Dr. Nicola Thorp

Hi, I’m Dr. Nicky Thorp. I’m currently a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and this means I treat patients with cancer using radiotherapy and chemotherapy. My specialist fields are breast cancer and paediatric radiotherapy.

Dr. Phil Bliss

Hi, I’m Phil Bliss, a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Clinical Director of Merseyside and North Cheshire Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. A rather complicated job title, I know, but basically, I’m responsible for leading the NHS’s Bowel Cancer Screening Programme which aims to spot bowel cancer at an early stage (when people might not be experiencing any symptoms at all) and when treatment is more likely to be effective.

Dr. Praveen Gupta

I’m Dr. Praveen and I’m a practicing GP and cancer lead for the whole of the Merseyside and Cheshire area. This involves raising awareness of cancer symptoms and also encouraging early detection of cancers; the more cancer cases we spot early, the more lives we can save.

Hi, I’m Dr. Rachael Warner, I currently work as a GP in Neston, looking after patients of all ages with all kinds of medical problems. I am also the GP lead for cancer in Western Cheshire, my main role here focuses on driving up standards of the service, through regular meetings with my colleagues across the region.

Eleri Phillips

Hi! I’m Eleri, a uro-oncology clinical nurse specialist at Whiston and St. Helen’s hospitals. I work as part of a four-strong team and my job involves providing support and information to urology patients, who have been diagnosed with or have suspected urological cancers which include prostate cancer, testicular cancer, bladder cancer and kidney cancer.
