Cyclists from Birkenhead Victoria Cycle Club have ridden 175 miles from Scotland to Wales in blistering heat in just under 11 hours, to complete a charity challenge in aid of The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.
With huge support from their friends, family and local residents they completed the cycle in just over 11 hours, raising almost £4,000 for the charity.
Chairman of the club Phil Dobbing said: ‘‘Cancer affects nearly everyone of us at sometimes in our lives, directly or through a friend or loved one.’’
Louise Beach, Fundraising Manager at The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity said: ‘‘We are so grateful to Birkenhead Victoria Cycling Club for supporting us in this way, helping raise money for The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre’s patients across the region.
‘‘The money they have raised will help us to make a real difference - to improve the care, treatment, support and facilities at the centre. Thank you so much to the club and everybody that sponsored them.”
If you have been inspired by our supporters and would like to join them in making a difference to thousands of cancer patients each year, we would love to hear from you.
